Chapter 557 556: King Fredrick Maya
Chapter 557 556: King Fredrick Maya
The next day...
Muku and some of the girls were currently in the Mayan Kingdom capital.
They were in a large meeting room. Muku sat on the head chair on one side with the girls sitting on both sides.
On the other side sat the mysterious human king whom Klaus had been trying to see for years... unsuccessfully of course.
As for why they were there, well, they had to meet to finalize talks on their alliance after all.
Were their actions a bit reckless considering human nature? After all, they had practically put themselves at the mercy of the opponent...
Well, that would have been the case if Muku's group hadn't gathered there.
He had brought Althea, Raya, Chloe, and Hope.
And none of the girls were pushovers. Althea was a literal Monarch. Even with her sealed power, she could easily get out of there.
Raya had the space element and talent unseen before.
Then Chloe with that attribute not even Mrs C could easily contain.
Hope was probably the deadliest one present despite looking like the easiest one to deal with.
After all, she was currently eating some fruit merrily, but behind the scenes, her Whisperless death was already covering the whole planet... yes, planet. Not just the kingdom.
Honestly, if she wanted, she could instantly kill a lot of R9 if they reacted just slightly too slow. And the R8s and below would be killed without knowing what was happening.
It's something Althea suggested at some point. But Muku rejected it and Hope would never agree to that level of killing.
After all, she would have to take out the humans, orcs, elves, and vampires too.
After all, if she just takes out the beasts, the other races won't ever feel safe with the group around. From then on they would become the new public enemy.
So, instead of using the Whisperless Death to kill, she was using it for gathering information.
After all, divine sense could easily be discovered the moment it was cast. But Whisperless Death was different.
Interestingly enough, from the moment she cast it, all the R7s to R9s from all the camps felt a heavy pressure around them.
They couldn't detect anything, but they all felt like they were in danger.
The feeling got worse when they all realized that even those around them felt like it.
And their instincts are almost always correct at that point in time, so they all took the feeling seriously and began looking into it.
Unfortunately, they could find anything.
Even when they used barriers, they would still feel it.
After all, Whisperless death is something that can't be blocked like that. It needs to be destroyed with flames, lightning, or some other violent energy.
If one is to use a barrier, it must also keep the air out and then be purified on the inside. If not, then there was no point.
Anyway, due to the undetectable at the same stage Whisperless Death, Hope practically knew where all the experts were. Unfortunately, it wasn't as detailed as divine sense, so she couldn't tell what they were doing. It would have been too broken if it did such a thing.
Anyway, the humans noticed something when Muku's group arrived. That pressure increased with how close you were to them.
So while they weren't sure what was happening yet. They at least knew that this group was involved.
Muku's group knew that they knew. It was another reason why they casually went there. They believed in their strength of course, but a silent threat like this was better than fighting it out.
And the other side has no way to bring it up as both sides know that his group won't acknowledge it.
So the best way was to make a deal and trust that they would be spared from whatever is going on here.
They suspected that it might be a harmless trick but who was willing to test it with their lives?
Especially when Muku gave them a smile that was practically saying, "Go ahead, test us and regret it"
It was a checkmate and everyone knew it. At the same time, it made the ancient humans feel impressed by these modern humans.
After all, before this, all the modern humans they came across were either still in their potential stage like Klaus, or simply lacking like most of them.
So they were a bit unsure whether they should align themselves based on that one show of power that might have been a lucky incident.
Sure, luck becomes less and less useful the stronger you are as absolute power trumps all. But hey, who knows right?
For that reason, this quiet show of power might have been necessary to build confidence.
Yeah, politics had slithered its way back into society. Hopefully this time it doesn't make the common folk suffer...
"I take it you do not want to join us and be one group huh?" The king finally spoke in a majestic voice after a moment of silent stare-down with Muku. Neither side backed down which impressed the king's subordinates as they could never see themselves not giving in to his power.
"If I'm the leader, then sure. Let's join up" Muku replied casually.
"Insolence!" One subject immediately got off his seat and shouted at Muku with eyes blazing with anger.
The king raised his hand and stopped him before he could go further.
"Hmm. Interesting preposition. Give us some time to think about it. For now, let's just be allies. Oh, where are my manners, I am Fredrick Maya, the 30th King of this here kingdom... though it has been nonexistent for a while now..." The king surprisingly didn't get angered by Muku's words.
This shocked everyone, including Muku who was expecting some sort of reaction. He wanted to figure out what kind of person this king was by pushing a few buttons.
Unfortunately, the other party wasn't willing to let anything slip. A hard nut to crack.
He then went on to casually introduce himself and his people who were in the room. There were four generals all with PR4 strength, then there was Klaus and some other dude named Richard who was apparently a prodigy on par with Klaus. He was also the prince of the kingdom.
After that Muku introduced himself and the girls he was with. He decided not to play games anymore and have a proper conversation. Something the king appreciated.
However, he did take note of the general from before who called him insolent. The guy was probably the most loyal to the king, at the same time, he would probably try to find trouble with him at some point.
So he prepared himself for that.
"Ah, it's nice to meet you King Muku, I hope we can have a fruitful alliance. Now let's discuss what we both expect from this alliance" King Fredrick spoke with a slight smile on his face as they had gotten a bit familiar with each other now.
Seeing this made Muku give him a thumbs-up in his head. He was honestly expecting an entitled and rude leader who would instantly ruin all possibility of an alliance between them after his little poke from before. But this was a pleasant surprise.
It's probably part of the reason why the humans were still relevant when the other races had a lot of natural benefits over them.
After all, a good leader can change the tide of battle for the better while a bad one will make death arrive sooner.
"Likewise King Fredrick, however just call me Muku. The whole king thing doesn't sound too appealing to me. Or leader Muku if that sounds too casual for you. As for what we expected from this alliance, well, first and foremost, there's something I think all alliances are made for. And that's assistance in times of need, we'll assist you and you'll assist us. Of course, it's only when the assistance is asked for and reasonable. Secondly, we would appreciate it if you could tell us about the ancient times. We're curious to know how we got here. In return, we could have told you about recent history, but I'm sure you know that already. So we'll tell you about the Beast World instead. As for anything else, we'll discuss it as it comes. How does that sound?" Muku spoke seriously.
"That sounds good to me Leader Muku. The first one is a given. And the second... that might be the most important thing to us right now. While we know some things from history and interrogations, the situation on the other side is still mostly vague to us. Hell, we barely know anything about what's beyond R9 because it was dealt with by Guardians who are also mostly a mystery to us. Like how we are a mystery to R6s and below... I'm not going to ask how you came across your information, but I do hope you can tell us as much as you can. And we will owe you one as telling you about the past is not even close to being as important as what you will provide us" The king replied with barely hidden excitement.
It seemed that even in the past, going to the Beast World was almost unheard of. So little was known about it.
It has always been a source of more pressure for the humans and other races as they were never sure where they were with the war.
Like they might think they are winning after a great battle for beast reinforcements to appear immediately after with the same numbers they took out while they couldn't replenish as easily as that.
So to say that they needed to know was an understatement...
